FAQ

Wait, why isn’t my butter smooth??

After consulting with some dieticians, we opted to do a rough grind butter. What that means is, you’re gonna need to chew a little bit. When you chew, your mouth produces enzymes that start the digestion process. And we’re all about getting the most out of these nuts!

What’s the story behind the names?

I hit the ground running when I started She’s Nuts so I just gave the butters placeholder names knowing one day I would change them. Who doesn’t love a refresh? Agonizing over puns and clever names, it occurred to me that I could name them after women who have been important to me, whether family, friend, or customer. So that’s what I did! It’s exciting to celebrate these women like this.

How should I store it?

If you have enough willpower to save some for another day, we recommend storing your jars in the pantry/cabinet. But if you’re inclined to store your nut butter in the fridge, it will still be tasty! (It just may not spread as easily) For the flavors with chocolate, it may be better to let it sit at room temperature for faster, spontaneous consumption.

When does it expire?

Cool thing about nut butters is the naturally occurring/added oil content and low- moisture help it keep for a good while. But since there are no preservatives in our butters, eating it and ordering another within four months is probably the best. Maybe six if you store it in the fridge.

How long does it take to make a batch?

Because of the soaking/sprouting/dehydration process, the nuts take about 48 hours to get ready for the next step! From there it’s another 24-48 hours to the Post Office. (Barring any squirrels finding our stash)

How long after my purchase do you ship?

Since each jar is made to order, we ship 4-5 days after your order is placed. We ship USPS Priority Two-Day, and once we ship, you’ll receive your tracking info via email. (high tech!)

What’s so good about avocado oil?

When we were perfecting our recipes, we tried a number of oils and tasters agreed that avocado tasted the best. So we researched it further and found that avocado oil is rich in oleic acid which is a very healthy fat. So healthy, in fact, it is great for your heart/blood pressure! It’s rich in antioxidants (good) and high in lutein which is good for your eyes! It’s really spectacular, this avocado oil!

Are your nut butters gluten free/organic/vegan/vegetarian/Paleo/Keto?

Whoa whoa whoa, one question at a time!

Gluten free: Yes!

Organic: Well…we use organic nuts & honey but our fancy, sustainable avocado oil and sea salt are not organic, so we can’t claim full organic status, but we’re pretty damn close!

Vegan: Technically speaking, we can make ALL of our flavors vegan-friendly, and Pistachio & Creamy/Chunky Bare are naturally vegan as they do not have honey in them. But since each jar is made to order, we will gladly modify a flavor if requested. Leave us a note on the ordering page and we will add or subtract ingredients!

Vegetarian: YES!! All our flavors are vegetarian-friendly!

Paleo: OMG Yes! Our sunflower seed, hazelnut, and whole lines of cashew/macadamia butters (with honey, dates, or our chocolate) are Paleo-friendly!

Keto: Yes, yes, yes! Sunflower seed, macadamia, and hazelnut are all keto-friendly, (minus any sweeteners, of course), you’ll just have to exercise some restraint and not eat the whole jar in one sitting, (it’s happened.).
